TRANS
border

The lived experience of a transborder student — the crossings, the streets, the peninsula, and the light that falls across all of it.

The project's primary objective is to show the lived experience of a transborder student, allowing others to have a glimpse into a life they otherwise wouldn't be able to experience. The project consists of photographing the landscapes of Tijuana and all throughout the Baja California peninsula. I deliberately chose to shoot with black and white film because I believe that using film gives the photos some historical authority about what life in Mexico looks like. Alienating a space from the colors it's composed of lets us focus more deeply on what is being represented, rather than how it is represented.
